Our Clinical Governance Arrangements

NHSolutions has strong clinical governance arrangements which provides the primary quality assurance framework for the organisation.

Our nominated lead is the Medical Director, Dr Omar Rahim.  He provides clinical leadership; is involved in teaching and training, a GP trainer and examiner for Royal Free and UCL Medical Schools.  Together with our Operations Manager, Diane Taylor, he leads on Clinical Governance throughout the organisation and is a motivator of our clinical staff.

Our sites have regular effective clinical governance meetings that are focused and relevant to the clinical team.  All professionals are individually responsible for the quality of care they deliver, and these meetings provide a point of reference to the clinical governance that is occurring continuously.

There is a comprehensive programme of quality improvement activities which will include but is not exhaustive

  • Clinical guidelines
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Clinical Audit
  • Follow-up rates
  • Referral analysis
  • Medicines management
  • Significant Event Analysis
  • Patient feedback
  • Implementation of NSFs and recommendations from NICE
  • Access targets, appointments and waiting times

Risk assessment and managing risk is an integral part of our clinical governance meetings.  All SUIs, patient and other complaints and Health and Safety issues that have been raised since the last meeting will be discussed and the outcomes and actions cascaded through the practice teams.

Our clinical governance meetings are minuted and circulated to the clinical team and stored for future reference.

There is a monthly Clinical Executive meeting that considers all issues of clinical governance and clinical quality
