Burntwood Health and Well-Being Centre, South Staffs PCT & Midway Medical & Walk In Centre, North Staffs PCT
These new Walk In Centres are in response to the Darzi report ‘Our NHS, Our Future’ which announced a National Programme to deliver extended and improved access to GP services.
The purpose of the new services is to increase primary care capacity, improve access to medical services, improve health outcomes in deprived areas, and create innovative new services with added patient choice
We responded to the PCT’s tender specification to bid for these practices in 2008 and we were delighted when NHSolutions was awarded both contracts against fierce competition in December 2008.
The PCTs, both within the West Midlands, awarded these contracts to NHSolutions for our ethos on patient care, our innovative solutions, great track record and great business acumen by our management team.
We were commended by West Midlands Strategic Health Authority for hitting the government target date of opening in April 2009 against tight timescales for both contracts.
Burntwood Health and Well-Being Centre opened on 31 March 2009 and Midway Medical and Walk In Centre opened on 2 April 2009.
Now both South Staffordshire PCT and North Staffordshire PCT have GP Led Walk in Centres which have:
- Core GP Services
- Are at easily accessible locations
- Open 8am – 8pm 7 days per week 365 days per year
- Bookable GP appointments and walk-in appointments to registered and unregistered patients
We have a new Darzi GP practice which is currently being built and is scheduled to open by the beginning 2010 in Middleport, Stoke on Trent.
